What was the brief? To mediate a consensus position between EEDA, Thurrock Council and Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, and to conduct a feasibility study into whether there was sufficient demand for investing in a Ports and Logistics Centre of Excellence / Academy.
What did we do? This initiatve had been attempted several times in the last few years, the stumbling block always seemed to be stakeholder alignment. Therefore MCW worked to align the needs and desires of the private, public, and education sector to create a consensus and collaborative approach. We ran monthly workshops and delivered a cross sector vision and series of implementation options to be taken forward.
The results: Work is Ongoing. To date - a consensus has been reached: that any facility need to concentrate far more on innovation, research & development, thought leadership and top end development, rather than low end level 1 & 2 skills provision. These outcomes have helped shape the current Essex CC and EEDA proposal for an Institute of Low Carbon Logistics.
