What was the brief? Emotional intelligence for leadership. The L&D manager at the Le Meridien Piccadilly wanted to increase the effectiveness of the 12 heads of department particularly in the areas of communication and leadership.
What did we do? Initially we conducted a Discovery phase where we observed the hotel operating for 3 days and interviewed key individuals . We then ran a one day emotional intelligence and leadership workshop for the 12 HOD and then paired them up with a MCW coach so they could continue to work individually on their leadership goals for the next 3 months with their coach.
The results: Out of the 12 HOD, several move on to promotions. The others improved to varying degrees depending on their individual goals. One HOD commented that this was possibly the most important thing he had done during his career at Starwood. The L&D manager was keen for MCW to return the following year to conduct another Discovery phase to understand further opportunities.
