Building innovation in the workplace

Lighthouse
Where does innovation come from?
Your own people, that’s who.
How do you create successful innovation?
By using the experience and expertise of the people involved in the business every day  AND giving them the support, resources and skills to make the ideas happen.

But where are these new ideas coming from?

Most organisations have a staff suggestion scheme, but how many proactively encourage their staff to develop those ideas and make them real but taking ownership for the implementation and benefits realisation?

By providing a mechanism for your people to harness their business focussed ideas and make them happen, you are guaranteed to generate innovative thinking, improve morale and make real advancements in the way your organisation operates – which can mean higher quality, more committed staff, cash savings and efficiency improvements and new ways of working.

In the Dragons' Den

At MCW, we use a venture capitalist model similar to the Television Programme “Dragons' Den” to encourage staff to come up with ideas and then to coach them through the planning, business case, presentation, project management and delivery of those ideas. Working with the support of a business coach, your staff will develop a new range of skills, whilst delivering significant benefit to your organisation. They will learn how to:

  • Measure benefits and become more financially aware
  • Manage projects from initiation to benefits realisation
  • Develop collaborative ways of working
  • Identify and manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Prepare and deliver effective presentations
